30th January Games

Greetings

Chilly again but a better turnout this week. Dave K hosted an Old West gunfight, using the combat rules from the Osprey ' Dracula's America' Rules. These worked well enough that it was possible to pick up the basics and concentrate on how to meet our objectives (modesty would normally forbid that I should mention that I achieved my objective . . .) and it would appear they function well enough as a participation game for future shows.

Rob and Alan played Kill Team but I didn't get to see much of this, although they seem to have enjoyed the game.

Next week, Dave has offered to run a further Old West Gunfight, for which I'll contribute some figures and bring a spare board game (Battle Cry ACW) for the use of anyone interested.

23rd January Games

Greetings

On a rather chilly evening we were somewhat understrength. Messrs. Harbron, Knightly and Slater (along with myself) played through the proposed Terminator: Genisys scenario planned for the Cavalier show next month. A few tweaks were made to the scenario to allow the human resistance slightly better odds against the Terminators, and in the course of the two games it was found this was benefical. The plan is for participants to play the Resistance, hilst club members will run the forces of Skynet. I've been in touch with the organisers of the show and they have confirmed we have been accepted to run the game at Cavalier.

Next week, Dave K has offered to run a Western Gunfight game. I have it in mind to run a Napoleonic naval game, not having played since SELWG last year.

16th January Games

Greetings

Table space was at a premium last night so I had to shuttle between the games we ran. Steve S and Dave K ran a play test of the Terminator: Genesys game we hope to run at Cavalier next month. This runs out at an hour's playing time for up to four players which would be about right (still waiting for word from the host club but I'll keep youa dvised).

I ran a Lion Rampant game using my Dark Ages collection for Eamon and Steve H. Eamon's Saxons put up a stout fight but Steve's Vikings came out on top.

Next week, we'll run the Terminator: Genesys game again. I'llbring my collection and probably Battle Cry as a backup game.

9th January Games

Greetings

We were joined by Eamon last night; he's been away from the hobby for quite a while and has followed the blog and was 'inspired' to visit on the basis of content. So you se it does do some good!

I ran my planned Men Who Would Be Kings game for the benefit of Steve H, Mike, Steve B and Eamon. Basically all available figures placed on the table and let the mayhem begin! The game was more of a way of introducing three new players to the rules but if you view the game in the light of Omdurman the regrettable casuallty list for the Mahdists makes sense. We even has a charge by the Lancer regiment into the Mahdist hordes but no sign of young Winston.

Andy P ran a Rumbleslam game for the rest of those attending.

I'm waiting to hear from the Tonbridge Wells Wargames Society concerning the Cavalier booking and will advise details on receipt. Next week I've offered to run a Dark Ages based on Lion Rampant game and I understand a Terminator:Genesys practice game has been scheduled as well.

2rnd January Games

Greetings

Despite some confusion about the return to 'normality' after the festive season, we had a fair turnout last night. Thanks to Andy P for running a number of board games; I couldn't stay long due to early commitments on Thursday but those present enjoyed themselves.

I've offered to run a scenario for The Men Who Would Be Kings next week and would appreciate details of any other games offered.

See yer soon
