22rnd June Games

We were busy last night; Dave K ran a Mad Dogs with Guns game for Matt, Mark, Andy P and Steve S, Alan and Rob were involved in what appeared to be a multi level Necromunda game.

I assisted Mike with a Rebels and Patriots Napoleonic themed game that he ran for the benefit of Steves S and H and two of his friends who normally only play boardgames, and who had expressed an interest in getting more regular games in. The scenario was loosely based on Quatre Bras 16th June 1815 (appropriate given the anniversary was last week) using his newly completed 15mm collection. I helped with umpiring and supplied a few buildings for terrain.

We also had a visit from Dave C who kindly donated a book on the RAF fighter squadrons in the Battle of Britain, which is timely with the new game we have on the circuit.

Next week, Dave K is running another Mad Dogs with Guns game, while Mike and I are running a Lion Rampant Wars of the Roses themed game. We've found some period specific cards which will be in use, scenario to be decided.

15th June Games

As ever, we were split into distinct groups over the Waylands site last night; Steve S, Mark, Paul, Andy P and Dave K were playing The Walking Dead in the bar area, along with Alan and Rob who were involved in a Necromunda game (I'm tempted to do an Imperial Guard team for this), I ran a WW1 naval game using my Italian and Austro-Hungarian fleets for Steve H and Mike.

The scenario involved the Italians in pursuit of an Austrian squadron which had been engaged in bombardment duties, which were then to be covered by a squadron of Austrian dreadnought battleships. Bear in mind that until 1918 the Austro-Hungarian empire held land at the top of the Adriatic where its navy was based. The bombardment squadron duly escaped and the two battle squadrons were engaged; the Italians lost two battleships in short order to the combined fire of the Austrian battle squadron and a magazine explosion and duly retired. The rules used were a set I found online and translated from Italian a few years back and not having used them for some time I pleased that they worked well.

Next week, Mike is running a 15mm Napoleonic game using Rebels and Patriots, which I am tempted to take part in, and I believer The Walking Dead group are playing Mad Dogs with Guns  and the Necromunda group will continue their deliberations.

8th June Games

Low numbers and last minute changes prevented running the Battlefleet Gothic game planned for yesterday evening, but Steve H saved the day by running a game of BattleTech (he having picked up the new version recently). This involved myself, Steve H & S, Paul and Dave K in a trial game with some light mechs, which still had some decent firepower. Great fun was had by all, and I look forward to trying this game again.

My thanks go to Alan who passed on a collection of Napoleonic British figures he had no further use for, some of which had been painted to his usual high standard. Alan was involved in a Necromunda game with Rob and others.

Next week, I hope to run a WW1 naval game using my Italian and Austro-Hungarian battle fleets. There is also a board game proposed which is part of an ongoing session.

1st June Games

Steve S, Mark, Dave K and Andy P played Kill Dr. Lucky last night (I gather the Doctor was scragged early on by Dave - this would make a great show game if it could be converted to figures . . .), while Rob and Alan were involved in another Necromunda game using the Wayland dungeon setup. I gather that Alan's Peelers (in the blue and yellow livery) survived the game this week.

Matt and I settled in for a final trial game of Angels 20 in preparation for the Broadside show on Saturday. There were a few changes to the move procedure which we'd been getting wrong, and it was also a good chance to run Matt through at a reasonable pace before the event. Hopefully the game will be well received.

We are down on numbers next week, but I've booked a table in advance, so I'll bring Battlefleet Gothic for the entertainment of those around.
