3rd May Games

Greetings

A quick change of Games on my part this week; the Napoleonic naval game has been put back and a Poseidon's Warriors game substituted. Josh and Steve H played, whilst I umpired - both are happy with the way the rules work and we continue for the game's show premier at Broadside on 11/6/17.

Dave K ran a Sweeney inspired Pulp Alley game notable for the absence of kipper ties . . . .

Our AGM is scheduled for the next Wednesday to start at 8.15 sharp. Please try to attend as we have some serious issues to address, a few quick board games for afterwards might be handy as well.

2rd November Games

My thanks to Dave Knightly for running his Pulp Alley game last night.

Steve H and I play tested the Portable Naval Game variant I have been working on - this appears to work OK and will appear again in due course.

Next week Dave has agreed to run a Pulp Alley game but with a different scenario, while I can bring Battlecry and the new Airfix WW2 game by way of variety.

7th September Games

Greetings

Reasonable turnout last night - we had a visit from Bob who may be joining us at some point; thanks to Dave K for running his Sweeny - based Pulp Alley game for those present.

    Given the 1970's flavour of the game, current opinion holds that the orange pond in the background is either full of Fanta or an unsuccessful attempt at pumpkin soup by the soup dragon.

    I've agreed to run a Lion Rampant game next week using my Viking figures - I'm looking to introduce some variable and a revision of scenery to the Viking Raid game which I'll take to SELWG on the 9th October. Not sure what else has been arranged.

27th July Games

Greetings

By now, all members should be aware that Laurie Bryson passed away last weekend. For any readers outside the immediate circle, I should explain that Laurie was born with spina bifida and as such was confined to a wheelchair for his entire life. I have known him since I first attended Present Arms at the Rocheway Centre in Rochford in the 1970's. He could be a challenging opponent (given his ability to 'dispute a rules interpretation' at the drop of a hat), but was always good company. Increasingly poor health in recent years had resulted in his club night attendances becoming increasingly less frequent, but this does not make his passing any less difficult to come to terms with. He will be missed.

Rest in peace Laurie, may the dice gods be kind to you.

This week's meeting saw Dave K run his Pulp Alley game, while Chris, Andy H and Josh payed Lion Rampant with Lowland Scots vs Highland Scots.

Next week, Steve H has offered to run Zombiecide Black Plague, while Andy P will run his Samurai Skirmish game.

25th May Games

Greetings

We were a bit thin on the ground this week.

Josh and Steve played a Flames of War game as a learning exercise for Josh - since he was learning, he lost.

Dave K ran an Old West themed Pulp Alley game, which ran all evening and was great fun. Thanks, Dave.

I am informed that Laurie has now been released from hospital, and although his recovery is taking time, has asked for a game to be arranged at his house shortly. Good news then!

Next week, Andy has indicated that he will run a further samurai skirmish game, while Dave C has offered to run the battlecruiser action from Jutland in honour of the centenary of the battle. I'll bring Angels 20 as a back-up.

20th April Games

Greetings

Pretty good turnout last night. We had a Frostgrave game supplied by Andy H with his marvellous dungeon setup. Dave K with a further Pulp Alley game, while Steve H and I had an initial game of Star Wars Armada. I thought it would be fairer to supply a general shot rather than pick out one game.

As previously advised, the AGM will be held next Wednesday, 27th April 2016. I'd like to start as soon after 8PM as possible to allow for a possible game afterwards, so please try to be on time.

6th April Games

Fair turnout last night.

      Dave K ran his Pulp Ally 'Sweeney' game again, which apparently ran smoothly (there wasn't as much discussion going on).

     Mike C made a welcome return, bringing his friend Dan along for the previously arranged Napoleonic naval game, which I umpired. As may be gathered from the pictures, Mike (as the French) attacked gallantly and was gallantly blown to pieces by Steve H and Dan. Good fun all round and we hope to see Mike and Dan again.

      Next week, Steve H has offered to run a Star Wars Armada game and an Age of Sigmar game has also been arranged.

Thanks to Dave Knightly for running his Sweeney-inspired Pulp Alley game last night; as this was a first play test the discussion was 'spirited', but all involved enjoyed themselves.

Dave has been asked to reprise the game next week. I've been asked to run a Napoleonic naval game by Mike C who has an idea for a large scale ship to ship game.
