25th May Games

Greetings

We were a bit thin on the ground this week.

Josh and Steve played a Flames of War game as a learning exercise for Josh - since he was learning, he lost.

Dave K ran an Old West themed Pulp Alley game, which ran all evening and was great fun. Thanks, Dave.

I am informed that Laurie has now been released from hospital, and although his recovery is taking time, has asked for a game to be arranged at his house shortly. Good news then!

Next week, Andy has indicated that he will run a further samurai skirmish game, while Dave C has offered to run the battlecruiser action from Jutland in honour of the centenary of the battle. I'll bring Angels 20 as a back-up.

Thanks to Mark for his SWAT game and to Steve S for organising a Flames of War game last night.

Dave K has offered to run a Pulp Alley game next week as a new project; don't forget your trench coat and fedora, blue-eyes.

22rnd April Games

     Busy last night. 

I ran a three way Lion's Rampant game for the benefit of Dave, and he seemed to enjoy it.

Steve S ran a Flames of War action.

 

While Mark ran a zombies board game.

     Salute is this weekend, and I expect to see a number of you there for some solid retail therapy, wear comfy shoes.

A reminder that the AGM will be 8pm this Wednesday, we'll try and get it over with quickly to leave some time for a game or two.

12th May Games & Broadside 2013

Well, that one is done for another year! Thanks to John/Chris for the loan of the display stand (table layout features in accompanying photo) and to the two Steves, Laurie and John for helping with the three games we were able to run. Quite a bit of passing interest (including Henry Hyde of Miniature Wargames). On site trade was OK if not quite what I had hoped for but most people came away with a decent haul.

Thanks to Steve and Andy for the Flames of war and Dogs of War games they organised for Wednesday nights session; pictures are attached.

Steve tells me that Mark has proposed a SWAT game, while Steve will bring some board games. I will look at something similar (Memoir 44 or Battle Cry seem like good ideas), but any other offers would be welcomed.

29th January Games

Bit of a late start for us all this week, for various reasons, but we still managed to run two games; thanks to Steve for setting up a Flames of War action which accommodated most of the people present.

Dave Crook and I (following some serious horse-trading on the aviation and naval front) ran a 1941 Angel 20 game based around the German invasion of Russia. This was a means to test the variable pilot quality tables Dave has ben working on recently. The game was a bit short as the Russians outmanouevred the Germans (!!), but the new tables did improve the feel of the game.

In other news - I have been advised we have a table for the Very French Civil War game at Cavalier on the 24th February 2013. More details anon. Another item -more for the aviation buffs - is a link to the website below:

which is a source of information on every U.S. fighter unit of the 8th Air Force, down to the details of individual pilots and aircraft. I have only just begun to use this site, but I have found it very useful.
