12th January Games

Decent turnout again this week; Dave K, Mark and Steve S were trialling the Dragon Rampant rules with Dave's Song Of Ice and Fire/Game Of Thrones figures (I gather than House Bolton swept the field), Rob and Alan continued their Warcry epic (Rob's arachnids won hands/legs down, so I've included a picture of Alan's hoplite inspired figures by way of consolation) and Steve H and I played what was for us an introductionary game of GW's Aeronautica Imperialis air combat game. Sufficient similarities to my Angels 20 game allowed us to get the feel of things quickly - suffice to say the Emperor's Eagles swept the xeno scum from the air 4-0 (much to Steve's disgust).

Next week, the Dragon Rampant/Game of Thrones experiment continues. I'll bring Ludis Gladiatorius as a backup.

5th January Games

Greetings and Happy New Year to one and all.

Reasonable turnout in the very cold weather last night; Steve S, Dave K and Mark played Zombicide while Alan and Rob were involved in another Warcry game; I'm advised carnage levels were high.

Matt and I were revisiting my Viking wars collection with a Lion Rampant scenario based on The Fugitive scenario from the rules. Both sides were seeking the missing norse warlord, the Norse to rescue him and the Anglo-Saxons to terminate him with extreme prejudice. First contact was made three moves in by the Anglo-Saxons but in the interests of a good game the warlord slipped away. He was later found by a Norse skirmisher unit and escorted away while the rest of the force fought a rearguard action. High spots were the total destruction of my Norse berserker unit in two rounds of combat by the Anglo-Saxon leader and the Anglo-Saxons slingers being their usual lethal selves (might have messed up the casualty calculations there).

Next week we've decided to play some board games. I'm also looking at games for the Broadside show on 4/6/22; the Lion Rampant Viking Raid game is one option, but there is talk of reviving Angels 20 with a Battle of Britain theme.

Broadside Show - 4th December

 Greetings

Matt, Steve H and I attended this show yesterday at it's new venue in Gillingham with a Napoleonic game 'An Affair of Outposts'. This is a two scenario game which we've been working on for a while. The game received a lot of attention but as ever we didn't win anything and in spite of this a good day was had by all.

My thanks to Steve and Matt for all their hard work during the day.

Se you Wednesday.

1st December Games

We had a number of games underway last night.

Rob and Alan were playing Warcry.

I ran a test game with the Napoleonic amendments for R&P to let Matt get a feel before the game at Broadside on Saturday - Steve H is currently unwell, hopefully feeling better soon.

Steve S, Dave K and Mark played Zombicide. The undead did rather well, but hopefully they didn't suffer indigestion after dining on our members!

Next week is shaping up to be a board games session.

24th November Games

Back in circulation after The Cold finally left me. I ran Suicide Mission from the most recent version of Space Hulk for Steve H (playing the Deathwing) and Matt (as the beasties). Steve was lucky with the Astartes and was able to complete the mission by flaming the objective; well played but Matt enjoyed himself.

Dave K, Mark and Steve S played Mad Dogs With Guns, while Alan and Rob played Warcry with some friends.

Next week, I'll run a Napoleonic play test with Rebels and Patriots ahead of the show at Broadside on Saturday 4th December. There's likely to be more Warcry and board games in addition.

10th November Games

 Greetings

A reasonable turnout last night; Alan and Rob continued their series of Infinity games while Steve S, Dave K, Mark and I crewed the USCSS Nostromo when Steve H ran out his Alien board game. The Alien game actually had us co-operating to source the materials needed to force the alien to retreat! Unheard of.

Nobody actually dies in this game, but we had almost beaten the beastie when time ran out.

Next week, I've offered to run a Space Hulk game for some proper mayhem, but details of other games would be appreciated.

27th October Games

I wasn't able to run my planned Dark Ages game using the Lion Rampant rules last night due to a lack of members onsite, so had an early night and a bit of painting catch-up. However, Steve S and Mark were playing a Doctor Who UNIT versus Daleks game, while Alan and Rob continued their now familiar Warcry bloodbath. Alan and Rob are very talented painters and its always nice to showcase their work.

Not sure what else has been booked for next week, but I've booked a table for a Battlefleet Gothic game.
